what is the difference between light and medium roast coffee, sit there until i am ready to drop them. itell that by this thermometer here. when the temperature gets to where i want, we callit a charge temp. a temperature where i want to drop it. when it gets here, i'll lift thislever, the beans will drop into the drum. once they are in the drum, the drum with bafflesturns, keeps the beans moving, keeps them
separated, keeps them so that they are heatingevenly so we get a nice even roast. when we drop all the beans, all the beans are goingto taste pretty much the same. we have a side glass here which helps me see the beans. notas useful as the trier. the trier helps me at anytime during the roast, i pull beansout and keep an eye on them. this is my most useful tool and when it's time for me to decideto drop the beans. i want to look at them, want to be able to smell them, be able tosee them, want to know what i am dealing with and this trier allows me to do that. thislittle doo-dad here is the end of the axle. i remove that plate when i need to lubricatethe axle in here. here we have a drop door. i call it a drop door. there is probably sometechnical name for it, i don't know. this
drop door allows me when i've decided it'stime to drop the beans, i open the drop door, beans come out, fall into this cooling traywith the stir arms turning around. there is suction here from the bottom set up in themachine so that it helps cool it fast. what
i want once i drop a bean or drop a roast,is that i want it to cool off as fast as it can so they stop cooking, stop roasting. whenthat is done i open this shoot. it drops beans into the basket and at that point the roastis done and that is the process of roasting with the probat l12.
